Not really. Those are dyno trick's and purpose built setups. The average head/cam 346 usually only puts out a realistic 400-440rwhp. Generally speaking they don't go higher than that in real life terms. Out of the 100s of heads/cam 346 cars in California I have yet to see more than a handful over that power rating with the stock bottom end and such. Stroker Z06s on the other hand I have seen get 490rwhp. No one that I know of has gotten a true 500rwhp out of a stock block yet.

Not saying 400rwhp out of a 5.3L can't be done. Far from it. I just think it's gonna take a 2wd truck with every bolt-on concievable plus great heads/cam combo and serious tuning and maybe some dyno tricks like light weight rims/tires, lightened flywheel, etc.

ktmrider, Holy cow you bored that .125 over!
man that's un real, you didnt have to put in any sleeves or anything, I know it's an iron block, but man I thought going .100 over on my old big block was pushing it. You have any idea on reliability issues? I don't know how long you've had it like that? That's interesting to me, may look into that? but then again sdpc's got the 6.0L block for $700, surely I could find one on through my local salvage. anyways that's it.

I believe Jarrod (J-Rod) has broken 500.
Gomer and Damian are at about 470's.
Couple vette guys w/ the new AFR 205's running 470, 490
Wait till the 225cc AFR's come out.

The cost of the 6.0L stuff now tho makes it sound just like it is, a novelty. You could find and build a nice 402 or 408 stroker for about the same money I spent.
But hey, like my signature says, "That block says 4.8/5.3" until it smokes the 31" BFG's from a standstill at 5000ft altitude! Wipes out my Dodge 5.7L with ease. That's why I had to go turbo on the Hemi to get the family fast vehicle award back ;-).

I interested in hearing from 5.3 owners who've built the motor without forced induction, not going over stock displacement. What was the setup and what did it put down?
