Default MAP and MAF questions...

Has anybody replaced their MAP sensor with a 3 bar unit and I'm outflowing my MAF, is the SLP MAF a good upgrade?

The slp maf will max out at the same point as the stock one. Just keep your stock maf.

Let's have some details on your setup.

Maxin the maff isn't a huge issue really
There are plenty of guys making some huge numbers still
What power levels are you at right now ?
Just have to add the fuel manually
A pain but it works Not Ideal but it's what you have to deal with pretty much

2004 5.3 ECSB with ATI@11psi, 3 core intercooler, 160 t-stat, Nology Hotwires(get a lil more pep to the plugs but the construction is junk, I do not reccomend these), NGK Iridiums, 42lb injectors from Racetronix, HP Tuners, AEM Uego, Dynamaxx headers, Corsa catback, and I'm having everything hardpiped in staineless steel since the pipes ATI provide are pretty hokey and a Greddy BOV since their bypass valve isn't very good either.

Sounds like a nice setup. What rpm are you maxing the maf at?

The only way around it is adding fuel with PE/rpm after the rpm point where the maf is maxed.

What size pulley are you running?

Any track times yet?

Sorry its taken so long to repost been hella busy. We're running the ATI 3.6 pulley. The MAF is maxxin at around 4200-4500 rpm. It would be nice if we could get a way to calibrate the sensor for more airflow, these workarounds are kinda cheesy, but ya gotta do what you gotta do I suppose. I have a 3 bar map sensor coming in tomorrow and I posted over at HP Tuners feature request forum to add support for a 3bar. Maybe Santa will come early and this request will be granted Didn't get a chance to get it to the track before it closed to get some times but it should reopen in March so I will go then.

Are you running a P1SC or D1SC? I'm running the P1SC with 3.6 pulley, at 5000 feet elevation, and not maxing my MAF until 5900. I think colorado springs is a little higher than 5000 right? You're flowing alot of air!

Also, how are those 42 lb injectors keeping up? I'd think you'd be out of injector by 5000rpm with those maf readings.

What does a 3 bar map do for you?

Its a D1SC. It depends on what area of the Springs you are...its a lumpy town.....lol. I'm actually closer to Pueblo and I think they list the elevation there around 4900'. So where I'm at is probably right at 5000 to 5100. The injectors do pretty good, a whole lot better than the stockers did. The last datalog I did shows them right around 85-90% duty cycle depending on the load of the motor. The 3 bar MAP is specifically for a f/i motor. The 1.5 bar is for a normally aspirated engine. You can tune around it of course but if the option is available to act like it came that way from the factory I'd rather go that route. Ryan the MAP sensor I ordered is from a 2004 Monte Carlo SS. Since its supercharged its a 3 bar and it looks just like the 1.5 we have on our manifolds. I get it tomorrow and i'll plug it in and see if it acts normal or if it freaks the vcm out. If it freaks it out then I'll beg and plead for HP Tuners to add support for it

That's interesting info. I flow about 40lb/min at 4500 rpm. So the d1sc flows 20 more lb/min at that rpm point than the p1sc.

Are the injectors 42 lb at 58psi (multec shorty) Or are they 42 lb at 43psi long LS1 style)?
