Magnacharger Crank pinning kit... easy install!
#1
When I swapped my cam the other day I also took the time to install my magnacharger crank pinning kit. It was VERY easy and pretty inexpensive. The piece of mind is priceless knowing that your crank pulley will NEVER spin.
In reality you don't have to wait for a cam change. You could do this mod anytime. All I would recommend is that you remove your fan shroud (or e fans as the case may be) and work from the bottom. The kit includes a new crank bolt, a nice jig (with a longer bolt) to ensure you drill strait and in the proper area. the required drill bit, a fluted reamer, and two pins that act as keys. If you can read the instructions or look at the enclosed pictures in the install kit you cannot mess up on this one. I kept looking for the complicated part of the install and it never came! Another nice point is that it only took about 30 minutes to install (with the fan shroud already off). Removal of the fan shroud would add approximately 10 minutes for 05 e-fans or about 15 minutes if you have the manual fan.
I would recommend a compact drill or a nice right angle drill (I have a craftsman cordless right angle drill that did great).
I'd strongly recommend this mod to anyone running any kind of crank driven forced induction package whether it be a magnuson or not. It is cheap insurance.

It's one of those really simple things that is absolutely critical that you install properly. With the supplied jig you'd have to try to do it wrong to make a mistake.
