Default MAF screen? need some help

Hey, My 2008 Yukon Denali 6.2L MAF looks just like the one on my 2005 GMC Sierra 5.3L except the 6.2L does not have a screen.
Is the MAF on my 2008 6.2L suppose to have a screen?

Been without one on every truck I have owned since the late 90s, I always remove it and never had a problem.
