LY6 cam choice NA and going FI will the LS9 work both?
 

i spun 4 con rod berings after losing the oil presure in my camed 5.3

and ill be buying a 6.0 LY6-L96 iron 6.0 with L92 top end

will this cam work good with 9.6:1 CR on a NA vehicle?

im not looking at making all the power i want from the cam i just dont want to lose any while NA and have a good daily driver
and as soon as i gather some money ill buy a turbo kit or cutom build one shooting for 500 to 600whp

my curent setup is dead 5.3 LH6 with 365/369 at the wheels and looking for close numbers with the LS9 cam on a 6.0 LY6 , is that achivable?

previuous cam on 5.3 was 219/222, 0.607"/0.602" 111+4 LSA 109 IC LSL/LXL lobes
new LS9 cam on 6.0 will be 211 / 230 0.562"/0.558"(sdpc) or .558/.552 (LPE)
122.5 LSA


BTW we have dynod a 2500hd LY6 4wd with full exhaust only and the result was 310 /342 to the wheels with 87 gas through a 6L90E and 14bolt FF

My observations with the LS9 camshaft in a 6.2L is that it idles well with a very so slight bump (noticeable to even an untrained ear) and shows marked gains from about 3500rpm thru the redline, which most set-up somewhere between 62-6400rpm. A very marked loss of low-end torque is exhibited and in my opinion would respond very well to a 26-3000rpm converter to mask the loss of low-end in a heavier truck. The ones I’ve been around do pull like a freight train even NA once wound up though and I’m sure would perform even better under pressure.

im thinking about the ls9 cam in my 408 for daily driving. im in to see what results you come up with.

some guys say that its a blower cam not a turbo cam with the differnce of exhaust presure from the turbo.

i like how the cam works on NA motors but i really wanna know what it will do with a turbo

this time i want a sleeper cam with good gains and good DDing

bought the 6.0 today!, will get back home and clean it up and change seals,gaskets, and check every thing else, wish me luck .

The LS9 cam should give you a little bump in performance over your stock cam while N/A, but you will see a noticeable difference when you switch to boost. Also, the LS9 cam is very similar to our old GT7 cam that we spec'd years ago for our C5 twin turbo cars. We have since discontinued the GT7 due to the close similarities between the 2.

the ls9 comes in about 33-3500. really comes on at 4500 till 6400. has shit for torque below 3k. tuning can only help so much to counter act this.
