ls6 cam in 5.3 + 40hp
ive been read a book on how to ls1 and it says by putting a ls6 cam in a 5.3 with springs brings it up 40hp. has anyone done this. did it make a difference. is the story true. any other rec mod to do with it. thanks for help in advance.

The ls6 cam will produce more power but for the money you can usually get a better cam. With a cam that small the only other things you should look for are hardend push rods, valve springs rated for the higher lift and faster ramp rates and a new timing chain would be a sound invetment. If you do some searching you will find alot of previous posts on the matter.

i had a 4.8 with a 6l cam, then bought a 5.3, tore it down and put ls6 cam an springs in 18k miles ago, the power is there for sure, dont know if it is cuz i stepped up to 5.3 or not, but im going to a bigger cam in my 5.3 soon

40 horsepower? That seems like a lot for such a small cam... Hopefully tho, seeing that thats the cam im probably gonna get

I highly doubt you'd see a 40 rwhp gain. Maybe at the crank, but not way you'll see that at the wheels with an ls6 cam, unless you're boosted.

I have always heard 20-25 hp to the wheels with an ls6 cam on a 5.3l. So that could be around 35-40 at the crank. The LS6 cam does make a pretty solid boost cam. There are a few people running it and putting down some solid numbers.
