Default LS2 conversion?

Just wondering if all the gen 3 performance parts work with the gen 4 ls2 block? Mainly cam and internals? My local machine shop is selling ls2 block for 950 brand new but I am just wondering if you can use a gen 3 forged roating assembly with the block and a gen 3 cam?

from researching, if your using a internals from a Gen3 motor then it should be all plug and play.. u'd only have to relocate the knock sensor fromt he front to the back...

crank has to be a 24X reluctor to work with Gen3 electronics as the Gen4s are 58X reluctor wheel... not too sure why...

From what I understand, the LS2 (Gen 4) knock sensors are on the sides of the block, and have to be converted to the Gen 3 type. Also, the Gen 4 cam sensor is located on the timing cover, instead at the back/top of the block. There's an aftermarket wiring harness/extension available that connects the cam sensor and knock sensors to Gen 3 wiring.

I believe the 58x reluctor allows more precise ignition and fuel injection timing than the 24x.

Who makes the harness and what type of valley cover does the ls2 use. Is it like the ls6 or would you still use a pcv valve?

Casper's Electronics make the wiring harness...here's a link: http://www.casperselectronics.com/mm...Category_Code=

From what I understand, an LS2 has the PCV tube on the valley cover similar to an LS6. Pic:
