LS1edit or Diablo Predator
#1
Well I really need to change my top speed <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> on my 03 5.4L Sierra so LS1edit or the Diablo Predator are two of my best options. Now I want to see what everyone has to say about the two.
1.) LS1Edit
It sounds like Ls1edit has better custom tuning capabilities.
Does it use a portable plug in controller like the HPPIII?
Can it interface with a laptop?
What type of control do I have over the engine?
Any links on it? Pics? How much is LS1edit?
Can it do anything the Diablo cant?
2.) The Diablo looks cool with its features, especially the code grabbing.
Can it do things LS1 cant? Its about $420 so it looks like for $80 more I could have Ls1edit.
Well I hope you guys can help me out. Does anyone know if Tbyrne motorsports sells LS1edit?
I would really appreciate the info. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
thanks, <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

ls1edit can only be had from the maker, carputing.com
there is a forum here that deals with ls1edit etc its called Computer Diagnostics & Tuning
https://ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=23
it is ran off of a laptop.
control - you can adjust anything needed i believe
does alot the diablo cant.
the diablo does have code reading which ls1edit does not (im not 100% sure on this though)
you'll need autotap to get good readings with ls1edit, and it would help when getting into the more customized places of the diablo, i believe.
check out the above forum for some programing info. also there are some posts in there about the diablo and how its getting craptacular results. there are also several posts on FSC about the less than spectacular results.
myself, i think i am going to go with the ls1edit (depending on if i think i can understand it enough to do the basic stuff... revlimit, speed, shifts, line pressure, tires, gears, maybe mess witht he timing etc for my upcoming nx kit..)
ls1edit seems to be a better buy if you plan on geting pretty far into the tuning. the diablo allows you to pay 150 for their version of the custom tune, but with ls1edit you do everything for $550 bucks or around there. and you can keep editing editing and so on, with no extra charge.
Hope this helps, and gets the thread started on its way with the real gurus!

From what I saw on the tuning posts of the diablo- You add timing to EVERY cell at the same time. With edit, you can add timing to specific rpms and loads. This means with edit you can fine tune your stuff. It does require a laptop or a real long cable to reach from your home PC to the driveway <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Then you will need some other method to check your tuning like autotap.

I have the diablo and I like it alot. At the momment ls1edit has alot more features. Diablo can be hooked up to your pc for downloads in the near future. both are good but for the time being i would have to say ls1edit is better. You can run real time data with the diablo as well. Like I said I really like my diablo tuner. Pm if you have any more questions
