Another option I have is going with an LS1,might have one hear locally I could get. What all is involved in the swap and what all would I need to switch from the 4.8 to the LS1??
Could my Whipple bolt up to it or would I be getting into somthing better left alone??

If you use your truck intake and accessories it will bolt right up. The block is the same except for a bolt to hold the a/c pump bracket on.
The compression in the LS1 is higher so you may want to get a different pulley; Depends on what your goals are.
This is the setup I have but haven't put my whipple back on since I made the LS1 swap -- I won't put it back on until I have an intercooler set up worked out. Not too active working that one out since I need a new tranny. This is an expensive hobby.

exactly, leave it out. you will see that it isn't necessary since there are three or four other bolts to hold the pump on.
Now another question, will the truck water pump swap with an LS1?I noticed the where the radiator hose connects is different.
This is what I'm thinking of maybe doing.
LS1 engine with 6.0 heads....that should get the compression right for the charger shouldnt it??
What if I used the 4.8/5.3 heads, would they drop or raise compression??
sorry for all the dumb questions but I dont have a clue and this LS1 is supposed to complete for only 400.00.Just dont want to throw away the money if a 6.0 liter engine will be better to go with.
Thanks guys,
Randy

Use the truck water pump to keep things easy and reduce as much customization as possible. All your truck accessories will bolt right up.
Using the 4.3/5.3 truck heads will raise compression even more. It looks like the CR with 6.0 heads would put you somewhere around 9.5:1. They are a popular solution for the LS1 guys using FI.
