Thunder explained that also... it depends on how high in the RPM band you want to spin it!! If you decide to spin passed 6200 RPM then you might want to use the LS1. Keep in mind you will lose almost an equal amount of torque down low as you gain horsepower up top. When I say almost it's definitely less loss than the gain, but if you don't have a stall to compinsate for that loss, then it might not be worth it to you!!

find the year on the computer you got. if its an 02 or newer, stick it in so you can pull more timing on a custom tune.

how fast r you wanting to go r u putting a cam in the motor r you plan on ported heads my opinion would be get it all done before the motor gose in the truck alot easier.if you r going to put cam i wouold go with tr224 and i would also use the harness they cam with the 5.7 and use the intake that came on the new motor
you will have alot better selction of injectors when that time comes and you would be starting off with 28lbs ijnectors instead of 24lbs.
you can all ways use the extra trans for and extra leave the one that is in the truck and keep the extra one to get build and you willn't have any down time with the truck.

I have a 2000 4.8 Sierra and I just picked up a 1999 ls1 today so I was just wondering how the swaps went? Also I want to use my truck intake, computer and harness
