I finally got my VSC set to get my fans running by the thermoswitch, but I'm only getting my temps to drop, andstay, at a constant 205 degrees!!!
I've turned that damn screw every which way but loose. UNtil I get a pin to control it with the Predator I have a question... Those of you with E-Fans:
Are you running a 160 degree Hypertech Stat? If so, what kind of temp are you seeing and do you have trouble with the heater warming up in the winter?
I park outside and hate to get in a cold truck and stay cold until I park at work..then it's warm!! But I don't want my truck boiling this summer either, I'll have it PCM controlled by then!
Thanks for the info guys!

I have a 160° thermostat, 34" radiator from a 6.0L truck, and the flexalite 282's. On the highway I see ~169°. I have the fans set to come on around 180 something with the VSC. At idle it'll pretty much sit right around the temp the VSC is set at.
On the cold days I have to turn the heat up to the 3rd fan speed for a little bit but, it'll get hot enough to run you outta there in about 10 minutes. It definately takes longer to get some heat in the cab though on those cold days. If you give the truck a few extra minutes to warm up in ther morning I don't think the 160° thermo is a problem. You will have to keep the heat on a higher setting though than with your stock thermo, not really a big deal.

don't pay much attention to your stock guage, it is more like an idiot light and will only decrease its value with a drastic change in temperature. the fans will benefit you more in less parasitic loss from not having the clutch fan. if the guage really bothers you, put in a 160 degree thermostat. it will llower your engine temperature, but, in the summer with the A/C on, it will climb back up occasionally anyway. i have the 282's and a 160 thermostat and i run at a pretty constant 178 degrees which is just fine with me. get the 160, it is a breeze to install and your motor will love you for it.

My dash temperature gauge reads 170 when EFILive says its 160...
Dash temp gauge reads 175 when EFILive says its 178....
BUT, the dash gauge reads 195 when EFILive says its 183....
So, there is a big jump on the factory gauge right around 180-185 actual coolant temp...
I believe the EFILive data.

i was contemplating electric fans, but tucson gets so freakin hot! so i opted to keep the clutch fan... its down around 170 w/ out A/C... but climbs back upto stock t-stat postion when its on.

I'm running a 160 degree thermo now. My predator shows around 172 and I'm sure I still have room for adjustment on the VSC. When I first got the predator I had a 180 degree thermostat and didn't see squat for a temperature drop. Big difference with the 160!!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't you thermostat open up at the stock temp ~195 degrees, pump in cooler coolant and close back up again when the temps fall, therefore keeping the engine coolant temp around 200 or so?

Yeah, you're right on the thermostat opening and closing. I checked mine on the predator today and I'm running about 195 pretty much all the time, nevermind that dipshit gauge it's more than an idiot light..it's just junk!!! I'm planning on getting the 160 stat anyway and seeing how it goes then, should bring my numbers down where I need them..hopefully!
