Default LS1 blew up. What now?

If you saw my About To Get Traction thread where I installed my 4.56's, you know I just pushed my LS1 too hard. I'm looking for a lower-mileage 5.3 or 6.0 but I've even considered fixing my LS1. The LS1 shutters (you can feel it but not hear it) and pours oil smoke out but idles the same with 60psi oil pressure. I'm not sure if I put a hole in the piston with a lean condition (my injectors were 115% DC) or if I screwed up the rings/ring lands. Undoubtedly my heads/cam are still ok but I'm kind of wary about the ol' LS1 anymore. Looking at prices, I feel like I'll have probably $1500 in h-beams, forged pistons, gaskets, and bearings. Plus machine work for the cam bearings which I don't even have a clue as to how much that would cost. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Josh

Man I would just look for a 6.0
Gain a few cubes and have a new start. Probably cheaper than fixing the ls1 also

I was leaning toward the 6.0 with my heads and a bigger cam. If I go with a 6 liter I'm definitely going bigger bumpstick. Thanks guys. My buddy found an 03 6.0 with 120,000 miles for $1k.

Default LS1 > lS2 402

I just went this way as I took the eng out of a TA I had, tho the ls1 was fine..
OMG what a smooth ride now as the larger cubes ate up the small cam buck I hated with the ls1 .

A 6.0 would be your best choice as there's many options for better performance.

Ordered an 03 lq4 from work today with 140,000 miles for $875. Also bought a brand new tbss intake with fuel rail and injectors for $175. Now I need a 90mm tb and I still have no freaking idea how to convert it. Also need a fuel pump.

What kind of rwhp should I expect from a 6.0 with stock (milled .030") 243's and a 23X/23X cam?

TBSS Throttle body . Not, just seen in the post below that U have a 01 not an 03.....

For your fuel pump, I stuffed a 255lph pump in the bucket ( had an extra out of a TA I sold ). Blocked off the hole in the bottom/rear and made a small hole ( 7/16 " ) at the bottom in the front so on accel, bucket stays full. No problems yet and let it go down to less then 1/4 tank. Racetronix offers a drop in bucket with the same pump that keeps the bucket full for $225. Not bad considering a 255 pump is around $100. Here is a link.

Best to also get their harness, it's nice as it's plug n play. I cut out about 6 feet of the lead wire as it was too long. Link below
