well yea there is.... in some cases at least, it's why hardly anybody goes straight to an 8.1 swap.

I would say the 5.7 and 6.0 are very similar in performance though.

If there were an 8.1L LSX engine im sure you would! There many more 6.0 engines available and I think you can get a new one for a little over 3 grand from GM. The LS1's are usually much more expensive, especially new.

With the new tall deck LSx block you can build a 511ci smallblock LSx. That's 8.4L, in a smallblock! Simply amazing.

a 6.0 was a cheeper build up vs a 5.7

I had a 4.8 and swapped a 6.0 in, it was basicly a bolt in swap, EVERYTHING bolted back in.

I know this is an old post, but I am interested in this for my truck. Are you guys saying that all of the LSx based motors 5.3, 5.7.6.0 have the same motor mounts, transmission mounts, accessory holes everything. I would like to go from the 5.3 to an LS1. I really miss the way my 5.7 tahoe used to run this 5.3 doesn't do anything till 4000 RPM which sucks for a truck.

Yes to all of the aboive questions, but the 5.7 LS1 and the 5.7 OBS truck motors are TWO different motors with two different power bands. If I were you I would change the cam in the LS1 to get the TQ down low like you are looking for.....or just add a Radix to the 5.3 make more power / TQ than the LS1 and call it a day

That is just out of control! How much would something like that cost. But it is a beautiful thing........
