LQ9 Consult

I recently found an LQ9 for a great price. It has 160k on it from a wrecked escalade, but they were able to start it and run it, compression tested around 180 across the board, all the plugs were dry in their inspection write-up. A paranoid buddy of mine said let it go because of the high mileage, I wanted to hear some other opinions before I passed it up. Thanks.

160k is nothing imo as long as they changed the oil every 3k my DD has 165k on it and runs awsome. the only things that go bad on LS motors when they get high miles is the oil pump takes a **** only because most of the time they didnt change there oil enough or the head gaskets start to leak because of the dex-cool eats everything.

They want $1000 and I figured I'd pull the heads and install new gaskets, do an oil pump just to be sure. I just didn't want to have to pull it apart and have the whole thing machined.

Well around here I've never seen them on CL for less than $1500 or so with less than 100k, and I hunt the site regularly. In fact I sold a 99 LQ4 for $1250 cause I couldn't use it because of the crank output shaft, but I had bought it for $700 so I flipped it. I was thinking I'd buy this motor and flip it for $1800 and then go buy the one I want.
Its at a jy and they want $1000 plus a core charge, I'm going to at least tell them to kiss my butt on the core, walk out with no warranty. But yeah I planned on doing a little Stage 0 work on the motor to get it ready, I'm in no hurry to install it. I might just let it sit on a stand for a week and see if sells.

So I went and picked it up yesterday, pretty firm on the price unfortunately. When I got into it though, I found out I shouldn't be disappointed. There is NO WAY this motor has 160k on it...
