Default LQ4 vs LQ9 Mileage

So I keep hearing a big difference in the LQ9 vs the LQ4 engines in terms of mileage. From what I'm reading the LQ4 can be tuned pretty close (within 10HP) of the LQ9 engine. Anybody seen a dramatic difference between the LQ4 and LQ9 in terms of mileage. I keep flopping on if I want to put a LQ4 or 9 in it.

P.S. Sorry for being such a lame-o with these gas mileage questions, but I'm a tight wad at heart.

If you are truly worried about gas mileage, keep the 4.8

I agree, My 5.3 got 14-16 mpg and my stock lq4 got 14-16 and with current mods in sig gets 17.3 @ 65mph on a trip and 15.8 @ 85-90mph. 14 mpg around town. Just checked it last week on a trip.

I know, seriously. There is a part of me that kicks myself when I ask these questions. Guess I gotta just pick and go with it. Looks like it just depends on the luck of the draw. I only ask because people tell me the HD engines get **** for gas mileage and if I can get the power and not as large of a drop with th eLQ9 I'll go that route.

OK, no more questions about it, I'll just sack up and get one.
