Default LQ4 Cams

Well I'm sure it'll be the same guys responding, but here we go with another topic of discussion I'm looking into cams for my truck. LQ4/4L80, CAI, true duals now (will have a more efficient true dual setup with no cat's through SLP Bullets. Planning on running the Circle D 278mm TC with a 3,000 stall. I'm looking into the VRX3 cam and have read nothing but good reviews on them, and have seen a lot of people running the Torquer cams and various others. I already plan on swapping springs, pushrods, retainers, lifters, etc. Lookin for a cam that quits pulling before or at 6,000 rpm, preferably starts pulling around 3,000 as well. I'm leaning towards the VRX3 cam however. I've read the other threads on this but none really get anything settled or throw up any numbers. Thanks guys!

Seems like you'd need a looser converter with that camshaft.

The VRX3, your truck is much heavier than an F body or Corvette that typically use a cam like that. If your heart is set on a VRX series cam and a 3000 stall, try a VRX1 on a 110 LSA. Should provide the lope you're after and decent low end.

So what makes these other cams better for trucks? It seems like the lower durations and lift won't provide the power that a bigger cam will.. I'm not against any cam at all, I just really like the VRX series, even feel more in love with the VRX4 It make awesome mig-range power and peaks at about 6,000 and holds it out to 6,700, not that I'll need anything over 6,000. I'm looking for a cam that'll pull hard down low and will keep pulling, I don't tow too terribly much. This is more for racing. And yes i'm still learning about cams. I've read numerous threads and articles, still just lost!

Power under the curve. Unless you drive over 5500 rpm all the time, you aren't going to do better than a 210s duration cam, low 220s. JMO.
