Default Losing mpg with cai???????

Every time I've done a cai (all so far have been the airaid) my mpg have gone up.
After installing another airaid setup on my 06 cc vmax it appears to have lost 1.5 mpg, about the usuall gain I've seen.

I'll leave it for awhile, but just never had this happen. Anyone else seen this with the newer trucks?

I'll leave it for another week until I've had time to run it with the cat back and the tune. weird.

i've always gained. not saying you couldn't lose mpg. but most of the time it's the right foot on the pedal a little harder....

That I realize and am usually guilty of, but in this instance it was fairly easy to go to the same 10 mile stretch, hit cruise at 55 and check it at the end of the road.

I've always gained mpg, so this is a strange one.

I have used a K&N FIPK, Volant and Stock intake w/K&N filter. Never noticed any difference in mpg that was directly related to any of the three.

I've always seen a drop in MPG because I can't seem to keep my foot out of it and wanting to hear it growl

No intake should will show any large difference in performance or MPG. Intakes really dont do much for the truck. It is just a minor difference.

Are you going by the mpg readings on the truck or actually dividing the miles you get in a tank by the miles you drove? I took a 4 hour trip at 75 mph and the computer showed 14.5 while the actual was 16.4.

I do it both ways, and with this truck the dic is just pretty darn close. I would have to disagree with intakes (I think you meant cai) don't make much diff.
Now if you are talking major hp gains, I would agree. But in the sotp and even in the mpg dept I've ALWAYS seen gains. This one is just different.
Luckily this time I saved the stock intake setup, and I think after the catback exhaust this week, I'll do another mileage run with the airaid setup, and then switch back and give it a try so I can see back to back testing and the result.

I always seemed to drop mpg's with an open element CAI. My AEM Brute Force was a great unit but i dropped like 2mpg's on the long drives on highway. Went back to a Volant system and now I'm back up where I want to be.
