Default Looking for some input switching something up.

Ok guys so my local track has a "street night" where you race from the reverse side of the track, no tree fast an the furious style someone signals the start although there is a win light at the end of the 1/8 so no times. It was my first time out since the tbss intake an ported 862s , needless to say I lost a couple races I shoulda won an it got me realizing that my truck is revving to high with the combination of the 4l80 an 3.42s. My truck makes peak power 4600-4700 although it does still pull to 6k where im shifting, what made me realize was my buddy has a 00 5.3 with a tbss intake an 4l60 swapped into an 80s 4 door benz , Im 4wd so I jump him hard almost by a length out the hole but im still holding 1st and my truck feels like it falls on its *** then he hits 2nd and starts to reel me in and proceeds to pass me, now after I hit 2nd at around 55 I start to pull on him but by that time there isnt enough track to make up the difference. I know with our setups im making more power an the 4wd makes up for any weight difference, im thinking of making my shifts 5-5200, because he hit second and pulled by me like I was sitting still while I was at the top of 1st, thoughts on that. Truck in sig.

Thanks Kyle.

Short shift your 1-2 so it'll get in the pulling power again.

It might rev to 6000, but I find it hard to believe that is still pulling. The sound of an engine revving can be seductive.

Oh, I was right.

Nah rev it to 5700 an back it off to 5500 an see how it acts.

The 80e has a long 1st gear vs the 60e. I bet it'd do good backing off the shift point.

I was thinking 5100-5300, really seems to fall flat after that.
