most off the shelf rims i am finding have a 3.5" or so back spacing. that is probably part of the reason yours look so funny. i think i will have 80% of the tire under the truck but it will still be sticking out 2" or so i am thinking. not really sure how funny that will look. looks like the back spacing will be about 6.5" if i push it all the way back to the brake line but that will help with the looks quite a bit.

So is the truck up and running yet? Any new parts come in yet?

What about the HotRod news? I think Octobers issue is out now. Anyone seen it?

i think the tranny just showed up at the terminal, i am going to go pick it up in a little while and slap it right in. hope to be running today.

i think it will be in the next hot rod, like the one in a couple of weeks but they never told me for sure when it would be in there.

i am prety excited about this new stall too. can't wait to try it.

has anyone tried the new mickey thompson et drag radial. you can get them in a 295/65R15 which shows as a 30x12.5R15. we were out trying them out on a buddies s10 the other day and they hook much better than the larger et streets he took off it. we're hoping to pull 1.5-1.6 60's on 235/60R15's.

I wouldn't worry about how it looks that much. Guys here in San Diego get wheels that stick out all the time, don't know why, maybe they think it looks cool...but I mean they REALLY stick out. Like 4"-6" from the fender, and they're skinny tires, which I think is the worst part. With a 305 or a 315, and most of it under the truck, you will be fine.

408 could be awhile. like months still.

the rpm we(flp, PI and me) prety much talked about was a 2600-2800stall. i know hiting the target stall speed with my set up wont be easy and the stall was made with the 408 in mind so who knows where it will stall to now. chuck did say something about a "turbo stator", not sure if got this right but it sounded like it allows the motor to rev prety freely untill the power comes on and then somehow pulls the rpms back down. that doesn't really sound posiable but i will let you know soon

what are your current 60's? this truck was pulling mid 1.7's, but should get much lower now that the nitrous with progressive controler is working. i'd say the 295's. at all 4 corners that should hook as well as you would ever want. these tires are the best hooking tire i've ever driven on without even heating them and smooth as glass even over 100.

just be careful on how far they stick out. I have some 16 x 10 wheels that I got at discount tire. I went in and asked for the cheapest 16 x 10 wheels they had for a silverado 6 lug and they stick out past the fenderwell pretty bad. They stick out so far that im out of the groove on the track which hurt my 60 ft.
