well im runnin mid 14 now N/A, and im thinking a cam will get me into the high 13's
and some head work will definatly get me there.
i have a few mods here and there

get you a stall.... 2800 vigilanty or a yank 3,000, look into Edit, well worth the money makes the HPPIII look like a kids toy, check out some slicks, get you a built trans cause the stock one aint gonna hold. exhuast, long tube headers, this is just a start but be ready to plop down some money cause it aint cheap.
by no means is it cheap.

stalls gonna run ya about $600 to $900 dollars depending on brand

edit gonna run ya $550 plus a laptop and either ATAP or EFILIVE which is gonna be another $350

various prices on rims and slicks, you could find some used rims and get some drag radials, all depends on what you want.

long tubes are gonna run youabout $800+

exahaust depending on what setup you want $150 to $400

oh yeah and the tranny is gonna run you anywhere from $1600 to $3000 depends on what you want done. in my opinion go all out on the trans. just make sure you check the guy out before you let him work on your trans, and i mean check him out. get some feed back about him, check the BBB.
trust me i know my trans is gonna wind up costing me $5000 because i didnt really check the guy out and he screwed mine all up. having to have mine rebuilt again.

and thats just a start, hope i didnt scare you there.

have you looked into a Wester's performance PCM yet? If you don't want to go with LS1 edit Lyndon knows his stuff and the programs work amazing. Cool thing about him is he will give you a credit towards a new PCM if you ever change Vehicles

a while back oxidizr talked about what he would try to do with a 4.8 to get optimum performance. he talked about maximizing high RPM power that the 4.8 should be capable of making. kinda like the old 283 Chevies, the higher you could spin them the more power you could make. he said he would probably go with a higher stall 3500ish (useless to you) and a good cam and set of heads to get air going well. i agree with him, i had his post in an email but i deleted it a few days ago. it was pretty good stuff. i'll search it later.

how about
-exhaust
-headers
-intake
-cam
-slicks
-tuning
-stall converter

that'll put you somewhere near the 300+rwhp/low 14's, then the slicks and stall converter, i think will drop you into the high 13's. possibly

first of all he has a standard.i would say a good aftermarket clutch first.then i would say long tubes and a free flowing exhaust. remember these engines like a little backpressure.then i would look into a cam and head package.gears would be a great upgrade.then i would look into tuning.nelson performance does awsome tunes.and keep the weight don at all cost.that is a good start.

i know my best bet would to be getting rid of the manual but i like it ,its fun to drive.i know its not gonna take alot of abuse its not known to be a strong tranny but i wanna stay with it til it takes a crap.what i had in mind was header/exhaust,tune,maybe 4.10's,efans and pullies.i think that the 4.10's will really help me because of the 5spd.maybe not i dont know.it would give me another shift to miss.
