long tube headers help!!!!

Default long tube headers help!!!!

my stock manifold on my 5.3 is cracked and ive been wanting to upgrade to headers and i dont know weither to go with long tube or short tube? its a 01 gmc sierra z71 w/6'' lift and 35''s. ive heard that long tubes are a pain in the *** to make fit on the 4x4's any opinions or experience with chevy or gmc 4x4's with headers. thanks alot

Well i called a distributor for pacesetter and they believe the longtubes will work on the 4x4 but the y-pipe will be an issue.. Im looking at longtubes and a tune for my 05 4x4 in the next few months

calspeed 1" 7/8 go on lifted truck pretty easily with no problem 1" 3/4 for stock truck fairly cheap at around 500$ and stainless steel

Long tube will make more power, but if you live in a place that requires cats, the shorties might make more sense. I installed Pacesetter long tube and ORY pipes on my 4X4 Tahoe and they fit fine. Admittedly, my truck is not lifted. Does this make a difference for header clearance? I would think the frame to header clearance would be the same.

The headers will fit fine, but will habe to have an exhaust shop fab you a y pipe since you have a 6" lift. The driveshaft will hit the y due to its angle coming out of the transfer case.

You could always skip the y pipe and go true dual!

Many have had problems with headers on 4x4, but I have read lifted fits better around the front DS area...but always hear the ypipe is a bitch.

I just installed calspeed 1 7/8 on my 2000 rcsb 2wd. I had to notch my frame to make them fit. Now granted I didn't buy new motor mounts that could have fixed my prolblem. I would go with 1 3/4 TSPs

I have Pacesetter Lts on my lifted truck, headers fit really really well and woke the truck up power wise forsure but you will need to get a Y pipe fabbed up to clear the driveshaft

Yes, a lifted truck will require a custom Y-pipe due to various clearance issues, but Stainless Works can offer a long tube header as an excellent starting point. Use our part number CT9902H (Header only), which is an 1-3/4" primary and 3" collector. From the collector back you can have a local performance shop modify the rest based on your specific application.
