lifted 4x4 headers

I got an 01 1500 5.3 that's got a 6" lift. I've heard people running into problems with the y-pipe interfering with the front drive line. Is this true ?

The left side of the y-pipe has to go under and around the front driveline. If your lift kit (many do) relocated your front differential lower in the chassis, then you will have to modify the left side of the y-pipe. Usually involves a little cutting & welding to make it work, exhaust shops do it all the time, even on the stock y-pipe.

Had to do it with mine on a rcx 6". The bend on the y-pipe that goes under the driveshaft needed to be bent down a lil and welded. Clears it plenty now after the shop got a hold of it

on my 2004 Z71 that has an RC 6" Non-Torsion Drop Suspension. Mine bolted right up no problems at all. I even have the 2 inch keys and had the rear springs re arched.

Not on a 4wd truck, as far as I know.

F-body headers WILL NOT FIT on a 4x4 truck. Just so you know....

wckdZ71 07-24-2012 01:37 AM

ok, thanks for the heads up. Whats the issue on a 4x4 with f-body headers?

AKlowriderZ71 07-24-2012 01:40 AM

The front driveline is the issue.
