Default Let's talk heads for FI applications

Hey guys. I'm going to start looking into the heads I want to get for mt truck in the near future. I think I have a pretty good idea on a Turbo cam, but what's everybody using for Heads?

I had my mind pretty set on a pair of 6.0 heads, so I could easily drop the CR and run more boost/timing and get a few more easy ponies for not that much money. My question about the 6.0 heads are if they come in cast iron and aluminum or what?

what other heads are out there for these 4.8's and 5.3's that'll work well with FI??

2000 and earlier 6 liters were iron 2001 and newer are aluminum. The 2001 and newer are casting 317 these would work well if you plan on running a lot of boost because of the lower compression.

You'd drop your CR too low in my opinion, near 8:1. Better choice would be to find a set of used mild stage 1 LS1 heads, or LS6 heads.

Richard is right Chris, there is a huge difference in chamber volume between the heads ( 62cc vs 72cc ). Unless you are gonna run some crazy boost, like 15psi+, you are better/cheaper off using the mild stage 1 heads or the #243 LS6 models.
Check out the sticky note in the LS1/LS6 Internal Engine thread for head volume info, it has great stuff in it.

well I was looking into 12+ psi. But it's hard to tell if I'm going to get false KR with running that much boost on my 99 pcm. F8L used the 6.0 heads on his Z71 for some time with good results.

I will also look into the Ls6's as well.

keep the info comming.
