Kooks or ARH?
#21
What'd you expect? something coated, nice and shiny? Which provides no benefits just hits your wallet harder.
Interesting... when did kooks swap to the "new" style?
too hard to tell from this angle...

But thats all I've got. trucks too damn low to crawl under.
I'm positive side by side there are minimal differences between kooks and ARH.
I am not sure what you are referring about. If you are talking about the scavenger spike, the base is the same given the same diameter tubing. The only variable would be the length of the spike. However, I think your picture is the old style Kooks collector before they went to the tight pinch style like the ARH. See picture:
In my opinion, both ARH and Kooks are top line. Like I said before, I went with ARH because of superior customer service.

I found a thread talking about them. But the discussion was about f-body headers, not trucks. I just assumed they swapped to them on all their headers. But after re-reading the thread, it is a bit ambiguous. You can read it here> THREAD
Looking at your pictures, the collectors don't look like they are pinched much. But since the merge collectors mostly help mid to bottom end, it may not matter to you. But I must say, I like the collectors I got very much. Another thing I like about the ARH is that there is a better attempt to get all the primaries equal length which helps scavenging. However, the extra bends might be a trade off. I dunt know.

I just installed a set of these today. I was done in less then 3hrs with the whole exhaust. 2 3" extension pipes into an X then into 2 3' Magnaflows.
Though it dumps in front of the axle for now. I'll pipe it all the way back later.
I read a post few weeks back to where the Kooks 6753 did not fit the Op's 03 or 04 truck. Neither does the 6752 which is what they said is suppose to fit. Got my $ back on them and went ARH. Fit like a glove.
I have ARH on my 00 TA and they fit great also, and still look good after 3 yrs.

i've got a set of ARHs in my living room waiting to go on my vette. from what everybody's told me, they have the easiest fit, best install, the same power, and same or better pricing (mine were best priced
). both times i called (ordering & checking on order), the service was top-notch. i can only imagine the same could be said for the truck stuff.
as for my truck, i'm running the eGay ones & ain't had any problems.
ps - wasn't ARH started by ex-Kooks guys?

yes nick did work for kooks so sure he took that and made it better I know I would if i worked for some big company then did my own thing. Make a better product. I got arh and just installed my only complaint is flowmaster sounds like crap now so going witmpeh a larger borla xs muffler in its place. But headers went on in less than 2 hours that is old off and new on. One from top drivers and one from bottom passenger. Best price I have found is chris at mpe racing will sell u a set of 1 3/4 with ory for 1300 to your door and no one could beat that price that I could find. took lots of pics of install and will do a post later in week on the install off and on and lots of pics. Now just need my new muffler.

Just a quick update. I did have interference issues with the passenger side header and the 4l80e transmission. A 4l60e transmission would have no issues. I ended up trimming about one inch off the tranny tab as shown in the pictures below. All is fine now. The tab in question is not needed for the new style inspection covers. It is a carry-over from the ancient stamped steel covers of days long ago.

IIRC, Joe (hirdlej) had gotten some Kooks for his truck, and they didn't fit at all and he had to send them back. Not sure if Kooks has remedied the problem yet or not. If anyone is interested they can search hirdlej's old threads and see what I'm talking about. I'm at work now and don't have the time to search for it or I would

Eff it, I found Joe's old thread for those who are interested:
