Default keep the clutch fan nut?

Guys, i just put 05 e-fans and a Nelson harness on my truck, I really like this mod . but, Do i need to thake the nut from the clutch fan and screw it back on to hold my pulley on? I looked on my in laws 05 silv. and didnt remember seeing a nut on his, just the threaded shaft for a clutch fan, truck has been working great but my old man said he thinks there should be a way to secure the pulley. thanks for the help.

I cut the nut off the fan and had a flat piece welded to the nut and put it back on the truck, covers those ugly threads and makes it look like a factory piece that should of been there.

Creederado did that with his also, it looked really clean. I just left my ugly threads there I'm pretty sure that the 05's use the same threaded pulley, just without anything on it...thought I saw a pic of one here somewhere?
