k&N vs Volant?
#11
Volant is better than the K&N in my book. It is a true sealed air box and in the heat that is what is important to me. I think in cold weather and on the dyno, the FIPK may make more horsepower. But in the hot summer heat, a sealed box will probably seal better than the open element with heat shield. Just dont have much confidence in a metal heat shield and 100 degree temps. Volant also has a ram air tube to suck air from the air dam.
BUT, there are better ways to spend 300+ dollars like other have said.

Do a search for "homemade CAI" and you should find a bunch of info and pics on how to make one yourself with mostly parts from Lowes or Home Depot. A few guys have made some really nice looking functional units for under $100...just another option for ya.

i've installed both and from my experiences the series 77 is as good or better than the volant, but not better than the volant with ram air tube. the volant alone isn't that great and has shown to be a restriction in some cases. i have also had some success with the outlaw box.
