What would be the best mod for this truck?? Is the HPP worth the money? I won't even consider the Predator after everyones horror stories!!

HPPIII is worth it. Especially for the shift points and rev limiter. Put in a K&N,EGR mod, they help as well. Of course, a supercharger might help as well

There's no camparing HPP3 to a good tune with LS1Edit, i did a 5.3L and gained .4 at the 1/4 and the shifts are nice and hard at WOT. just for grins, we compared the stock vs hpp3 vs edit and the SOTP was very noticeable. hpp3 is a little conservative on timing, we bumped it up another 5deg, what a difference.
i'm trying to talk my neighbor into doing his 6.0L '02, i'll post the results if i can get talk him into it

I have a 2001 2500HD x-cab 4x4 with the 6.0 also, and have tested it stock at the dragstrip, and then with some of these mods. A good airbox (I'm using, and like, the Volant intake), an ASP underdrive crank pulley, ported throttle body are some good improvements. You'll want to consider the Superchips Microtuner also. I bought both the HP 111 and the Superchips at the same time, took them both to the dragstrip, and the Superchips microtuner kicked the HP 111's *** big time both ET and mph wise, with less detonation (only running 89 octane fuel). It ran 15.7's at 89 mph (2.32 60 ft) with just these mods. I've since installed AS & M headers, and switched the muffler out to a Magnaflow muffler and resonator, and can definitely feel the improvement. I haven't had a chance to take it to the dragstrip yet, to see what the improvements were. My next mod will be a Yank 2600HD thruster converter, with retains the stock towing capacity, but greatly improves the ET, mph, etc. Our 4L85E's have a 2.48 first gear ratio, which is not good, considering you're trying to move 6000+ lbs off the line.

yeah tryin to move 6000+lbs is kinda hard...but look @ it like this, Jason...those 6000+lbs moving @ 15.7 secs w/ just simple mods, is still faster then some of those ricers that weigh like 2600lbs lol
Btw, how does the Magnaflow system sound? Im a flowmaster man myself, but have heard good things from Magnaflow, and was rather impressed w/ the Corsa system aswell...but if i had to buy exhaust, my $$ would go to Flowmaster

The magnaflow sounds good, now that I added a magnaflow diesel muffler (resonator) behind the main muffler. Resonation is at a minimum now. Magnaflow supposedly has or is coming out a bigger muffler that should eliminate having to run a muffler and resonator together to eliminate resonation. These 6.0's are a different animal, and are hard to quiet down, exhaust wise, when you get away from the stock muffler. Don't bother changing out the dual 3" pipes that run from the exhaust manifolds to the muffler, they flow more than you'll ever need, as will the single 3.5" tailpipe out of the muffler.
