The LQ9 wasnt out then. Thats all there is to it. It rolled out in 02 in the Escy. Sounds to me like that seller is misleading you a tad.

Make that seller yank one of the heads off. If it has a dished piston, its an LQ4. If its flat, then it is an LQ9 and he just has his model years messed up.

thats what I am trying to figure out, I havent paid for it yet and I have heard from the seller yet. I really dont care if it's a lq4 or lq9 as long as it is a 6.0. Some one had made the mention that GM did not even make an Escalade in 01. I found very few titles on a google search on the 01 but I have found some. So I really don't know what to do. I don't want to get any type of negitive feedback but I also don't want to get screwed either.

If you can get the vin# you can tell by the eigth digit.

V = 4.8
T = 5.3
U = 6.0 LQ4
N = 6.0 LQ9
