Default Joining the truck world

Well my desire for a boat is too much. So Im selling my camaro and want to do a reg. cab short bed Silverado. have in mind to do SS wheels and SS bumper as well as a tail panel.

Ive got my heart set on an 03-06 model with a 5.3. The problem is I'm still having trouble locating a 2wd with a 5.3. Ive found a couple with a 4.8. All I want to do really is make it nice and hope to run 12's with it. I already have a n20 kit for it and have in mind to do a supercharger. I imagine that should be enough to due it

My question is 1. how tough is it to find a reg. cab, short bed 2wd with a 5.3 and if I did by a 4.8 how tough is it to do a swap to a 5.3. I can get one for about $600 from a friend of mine out of an 05.

if you get one with a 4.8 why not swap to a 6.0. They are the same you would never know it was a 6.0. All the parts are interchangeable . The reg cab 5.3 can be a bitch to find sometimes. It also depends on the area too.

buy the single cab and swap your ls1 into the silverado and put the 4.8/5.3 in the camaro. 99% of people wouldn't even know the difference.

LOL, I joke of course

Person may not know details of doing so (assumption only, of course). Hence, one of the reasons sites like this exist. I'd look into a 6.0L swap before a 5.3L. From a power perspective, you'll be happier. After blowing the transmission with a modified 6.0L (you know you'll want to add bolt-ons), you'll be looking to one of PT's sponsors to build you a stout unit. Of course, you don't HAVE to modify it. The 60Es will hold a while if the usage is mild DD'ing. <--- after a swap like that, i doubt you'll want to leave it stock... expecially since you bought a Camaro to go fast.

I... I... I won't say a stunt like that cannot be pulled off. What's truly not noticeable was the non-flex fuel 4.8L that took the place of the 5.3L Z-code that blew out of my Yukon before I traded it in.

well the objective is to make it capable of 12s and still be a good daily driver. Now let me just add one thing I will not tolerate is to be driving down the street and get out performed by a stock SN 94-04 mustang GTwith exhaust and what not, most of you know what I'm talking about. For any GM performance vehicle to be out performed by that is criminal. so if I can do that and then go to the track and throw the bottle on to add to the set up and run 12s I'll be great.

Now I've heard that the 5.3 came with the L80E any truth to that?

Not an ounce

the 5.3L and the 80e never mated unless forced to in captivity

???

if you swap to a 6.0 with a SC and about 8-9 psi and most/all supporting mods, should be good for 12s all day long
