Default interesting inside view of upd intake

i may be the only person with this problem, i have never been able to get the upd tube to completely seat on the throttle body, not sure if it is an 03thing(drive by wire) or a upd thing but it just wont go on all the way. i use windex just to get it a little over half way on. it is pleanty secure but now that i have a unique view of the inside i can see what might be a slight flow restriction.

anyone else have this problem? if so how did you get it on all the way. here is a pic of what i am talking about. it is worse than it looks in the pic, there is alot of that rubber coupling hanging right in the way of the airflow.

Doesn't look like it would seal around the tb like that so you might be suckin' air that the maf ain't reading. Get a pair of dial calipers and measure the inside of the upd, and the outside of the tb. Account for the thickness of the rubber seal and you'll see why it doesn't fit.

it seals fine and is ridgedly mounted. i am able to get it on there for enuff for the clamp to be behind the ridge on the throttle body. if i try and get it on there any farther than that pic the rubber starts to roll in if that makes any sence.

Personally, I would just trim the excess with a razor. Or maybe leave the upd in the sun for about an hour and then use some lube to get it to slide on all the way.

I'm a machinist so I always measure things and make them fit right.

If the rubber seal has a wrinkle in it it could be leaking.

it is clearly not on all the way, that is what i am saying. is it cool to use vaseline to get it on there? i thought it was best to use some kind of lube that would dry up and go away but i will use some vaseline if that is cool.

im not sure if its good or not? but on the UPD instructions it says if you have trouble use petroleum jelly. But I've tried silicon oil spray, etc.. vaseline and alot of elbow grease will get it on. lol.
