I’m going to drop it off tomorrow for the converter swap.

I’ll report back.

That was his estimate with the 4.56s installed and his current 34" tires.

Crap I must have read that wrong originally, 2600 did seem high with 34's having below a 4:1 ratio, and I still didn't get it lol.

It's great. I was logging earlier today and the new converter has about 200-300rpm of slip before it locks up vs almost 1500 with the old one.

We'll be headed to Roan Mtn on Monday. It definitely comes off idle wanting way less throttle.

I still think I am going to need a gear swap eventually.

It's definitely way more tight.

Good to hear, is it giving you back that low end response you were looking for from the possible cam swap?

Reason I ask is I steered you toward a stall here and in PM vs a cam and hoping it was the right thing to do.

Eh, I don’t know just yet.

I’m going to bump up the timing in the low rpm/high map cells and see how it feels.

Right now, on take-off, it only runs 29 degrees because of how tight the converter is. I figure I could bump it up a few degrees and see.

The 29 degrees is around 2000-2500rpm above 60map.

@00pooterSS

After driving it and massaging the spark table as much as I can, I think the cam is to big for the converter.

It almost bogs a little off the line but once above 2k it pulls good.

The new converter is really tight. I’m having to lean on the brakes a little more now at a red light.

Gears or cam swap? The current cam is an off the shelf Comp, 222/224 @ 112+2.

I have the gears and cam but don’t know which would be better.

thoughts?

It definitely pulls better. I’ve gained about 1.5mpg while towing the TT.

Man that's a tough one. If I had to guess I would have guessed the cam was pretty good for the over all setup. You do have a 370, right? At 12.5:1 I would think that came would be tamed down quite a bit and work nicely. It may just need some timing massaging. And yeah it may be time to gear it man. Those 34's are gonna be a bitch to turn due to diameter and I can only imagine what they weigh

What does the new converter actually stall at?

Sounds like it may be a hair too tight but man it's hard to have a good fun street converter that also works well with towing heavy loads. I don't know if you can find a happy medium for those two things.

My completely honest opinion is that you need a tow rig and a toy, if you don't want to settle
