Default Intake?? Worth it?

I was looking at some of the intakes out there, FAST, LS6... I read some of the posts on here and see that there can be some work involved. For all that have done the swaps, was it worth it? Any suggestions if I am looking into getting one? This is a big area that I am not very familiar with.

if you dont plan on turning well over 6200 rpm i dont think its worth it..i put the ls1 intake on mine..i turn 6800 rpm in my truck though..ill probably be putting either an ls6 or edelbrock intake on mine this summer

You will gain power all throughout the curve with an ls6, Kano dropped .4 in the 1/4 with just an intake.

If you wanna do it...do it. Most of these guys will try to talk you out of it. But like dirt_track said, if you're not windin it up pretty tight, you're prolly not gonna get alot out of it. They're are very asthetically pleasing though

Chevy High Performance magazine tested the various intakes, on stock engines and engines with several cam profiles. The Big Ugly held up with the best of them, make slightly more power under 6,000 rpm and slightly less over 6,000 rpm (2-3 hp from what I remember).

With the stock and very small aftermarket cams. When they started putting decent sized cams in them, the truck intake fell behind.

If I can drop .4 in a quarter mile like Kano..who wouldn't do it, man a rough decision.

You are right, I checked the article again (July and August 2004).
