Default Intake Tube

I only want a tube for my Airaid intake. I don't want to have to buy a new setup (ie. UPD or K&N FIPK).

To you guys that have made your own intake tubes for 99+ Silverados, what did you use? Please be specific (especially with length and measurement) and pictures would help too.

There's a guy on this forum that made an intake tube out of mandrel bent 4" exhaust tubing. There's another guy over on www.fullsizechevy.com/forum that made his out of black heavy duty 4" duct tubing. He says it's holding up good.

My problem is I can't find any tubing at my local hardware store that will work. Thanks in advance for any assistance with this matter.

Mine is made out of 4" PVC pipe. It took some time and several different hardware stores to locate exactly what I wanted. I ended up with a 4" 90* bend from the throttle body, then straight 4" tube about 20" I'd guess. MAF goes on that end. I put a round K&N filter on the end of the MAF. I used the rubber gaskets form the stock setup to connect the MAF and the throttle body.

Don't buy the thick PVC like from home depot. My tube is pretty thin - I can squeese it hard and it will flex some, the thick stuff wont do that. I had to buy about 4 feet, but it was cheap. I spent about $15 - $20 on the parts, plus about $55 for the filter. I have no complaints with it. I'm glad I saved $100+.

I have a DJ Motorsports tube that I no longer need. If you are interested I will sell it cheap, let me know and I can post a pic of it.

If you didn't want to make an intake tube you could probably call volant & tell them you bought a volant intake system used that didn't come with the tube & I bet they will sell you one for around $110. I had a spare volant intake tube that I didn't use but I have already given it to my brother to use on his suburbon.

Hey CashDudeHomie! I'll take the DJ intake tube if you think it will work with the stock air box. I'll shoot you an e-mail also.
Thanks, Jim
