installing cam ran into problems

No problem. I reused both WP gaskets and front cover gasket. I didn't change any gasket or seal, although I did have them in case they were needed. If the gaskets aren't torn, use them again. On my old truck, the WP gaskets rubber material had deteriorated and fell apart during the install.

heck if i known that i would have had it done tonite. another question, what kind of mixture should i use in the radiator. i am going to use water wetter.

I'd just use the OEM spec on the mixture. Sorry I chimed in so late. But I was going to suggest sanding one of the tools down with some emry cloth. I made my own this way since my lifters would not stay up at all. Good ol' Mobil 1. As for the gaskets, I'm with Tex on that. I've pulled the front end of the motor twice and reused them and went racing both times after pulling it. No problems to this point.

I did reuse my gaskets too. I only had 11k on the clock when I did it though.

I would have suggested the sanding bit ... but I sanded my *** off with 220 grit paper and ended up on the bench grinder to get them to fit in a test block.

LOL!!!! I started with a 4" grinder and a Tiger Paw sanding disk.
