it's just a matter of if you are BUYING a radiator, the all aluminum version costs less (from what I found), is more reliable (welds vs. epoxy, with plastic end tanks that can crack), is repairable (IF something cracks/leaks, just re-weld), and modifiable (could always change to a thicker core, weld on fittings/brackets, etc...)
I have the 28" and have been looking to upgrade for awhile now. I like the cost a lot more!! Also I have the LS1 fans and have been thinking of going with the truck fans or building a shroud for the LS1s to direct the air more.

I'm looking at building a new shroud for my fans. I'm actually using LT1 fans which have the "fan" bolted to the plastic shroud (not sure if the LS1 fans are bolted or not). It looks like I can just get a piece of 0.080" aluminum sheet cut to size, cut two holes in it, and bolt the fans on it. If I make the aluminum sheet larger than the radiator, it will actually seal against the end tanks and radiator supports, thus bolting to the old 28" radiator mounting holes.

Update:

Been running it for almost a year now and couldn't be happier. Between this radiator, the LS1 electric fans, and a 160 T-stat, I NEVER see over 185degrees (on scanner) even with 115degree summers. I'll be buying one later this summer and installing the same setup into my Tahoe.

good to hear, I love my efan setup. I pull a trailer in the dead of summer in stop and go traffic and still have never seen over 200. Next thing is a 40,000gvw trans cooler.
