Installation of Vette Servo on '02 Silverado

Default Installation of Vette Servo on '02 Silverado

Yall...

I've been running into a little bit of a cluster puck getting estimates installing the vette servo on my '02 Silverado. More than once I've been told that my exhaust is just "this much" in the way of the tranny and they would have to remove the exhaust to get to it. And this is after I've told them that I have the vette part. Before they tell me it's $80 - $100 to install, and then another bill for the remove/install of the exhaust.

Any suggestions on how I can get around this "smoke"?

it may take a whole 4.5 minutes to get the y pipe off. it shouldn't increase the cost of installing your servo that much

do it yourself...takes like 20min tops. no need to take the y-pipe off. the cat is kind of in the way but not too bad...

I just installed Sonnax 2nd and 4th servos from FLT this afternoon. I did a Transgo HD2 at the same time, so there was a lot more involved. But on my 2005 Z71 CCSB, I dropped the tranny crossmember and lowered the back of the transfer case onto a jack, and pushed it as far to the driver's side as possible. A little more work, but the servos came out and went in in one piece. I've read where some have had to pull the e-clip and disassemble it in place, maybe on different years or configs. I had a little trouble getting the new 4th servo on, but ther than that it was cake. This was also the first time I've ever worked on a tranny besides a filter change.

Dan ....

Did your Servo come with another piston assembly? Mine didn't. I can't believe that idiot wanted to charge me $100 for 2 damn bolts to pull the exhaust off?

Check out that second link I posted...Very helpful. You should have everything in that picture where the different servos are sitting beside each other. If you follow the directions on that post it should be a breeze. I didn't use a pop bottle cap like it shows because I didn't understand what it was for...3 things i can tell you to watch for...1) be real careful with the o-rings and seals. any kind of knick or dirt on them will let the fluid go past them causing your tranny to act up. 2)make sure the pin spring is installed straight. It can get sideways during re-installation and give you all kinds of problems(helpful hint: it shouldn't take alot of prying on the cover to get the outer ring snapped back into place. If it does then take everything back out and check that spring. I ended up putting some grease on it to hold it in place.) 3)Make sure you get the outer ring that holds the cover on in the right groove. That stuff is under alot of pressure. There has been a few guys on here get it in the wrong groove just to have the side of their case blow out

Make sure that you get the clip seated ALL the way...other than that, it is cake...

the coke bottle cap is so you dont put the c-clamp direct on the servo. supper easy my friend. i suggest doing it yourself. dont pay someone for bolt ons!
