You cold do a cam, program, and exhaust on a 8.1 and get damn near the power that a SC would make. But then again it would lack the down low tq that a SC makes.
what does a sc 8.1 usually put down Tq wise?

The 8.1 bone stock withthe allison tranny will put down around 240 rwhp and 300 lbs of tq on 285/75/16 tires, 4.10 gears and 11.5 full floating rear.

With a tune it will put down in the neighborhood of 280 rwhp and 340 TO 360 lbs of tq.

It averages 10mpg in traffic and 12mpg on the highway with the tune .

heres some dyno sheets on it.

We had some problems getting it to hold the gear on the dyno with the tune installed , it was my opinion and the guy running the dyno that it is actually putting down close to 290 rwhp and 360 tq but we could not get it to hold third gear long enough to get it that high so we went with the safe estimates.

with a 150 shot you could be in the 420 to 430 rwhp range easy. The allison tranny will hold around 500 rwhp before you need to build it.
The whipple Sc will net about the same results as the giggly gas but cost about 7 times more. Either way its gonna run somewhere around low 14's to high 13's in a crew cab version, mid to low 13's probaly in the ext cab.

I dont have a clue what the 6.0 is capable of but i am sure its close to the same

HA!!! Got you beet. With a cold air intake, headers, a Comp Cam, and a crappy HPPIII. I made 322whp 433 wtq with a 200hp shot 504whp 640wtq and went a 12.95@ 101mph.
By the lookes of things I'd say the torque management cut it off at 4000. I've talked to a guy that had that problem. As soon as it 4000 the computer would start closing the throttle blade. He got with the guys that make ls1edit and they found a hole anther page of torque management that even the 6.0 don't have.

I've had them all - 5.3, 6.0, 8.1 and Duramax. Each motor can be a good choice depending on what your going to do with the truck. I'm used to driving 500+ horsepower cars that weight half of what our trucks do so I want all of the power I can get. That's why I worked through the motors over the years. I recently had an 8.1 Suburban with the Intercooled Whipple and other mods. That truck made 407hp/558ft-lb at the rear wheels and ran 13.9 at the truck. Awesome tow vehicle! Only drawback was the mileage while towing. That was 7.8 MPG.

Recently picked up a Duramax. This thing gets car like mileage without a trailer (17-18 MPG). I'll see what it does while towing in a few weeks. I expect it to be around 13.

Very nice power there tierod, you have me beat by a mile but you also have me out modded, I wasn't triing to say hey mine makes the most power by the way. I was just triing answer the guys question about what kind of power they put down. I envy you none the less, 12.95 is awesome and Hopr to be there one day, mayber once my wallet catches up to my need for speed.

My torque management is still holding me back some, I had westers remove as much as they could and still be safe , Its my daily driver and I really cant afford to break it while i am still making payments on it , maybe once she's payed for I will have the rest of it removed. However we did have a problem with it shifting out of 3rd and we couldn't get a complete run out of it so we settled with the 274 h.p. run , Thats why assume it's somewhere close to 300 h.p. With headers and a cam I will be close to your 322 though, dont slow down and let me catch you. Never mind I just read your sig hope the raylar parts give you what you are looking for, let me know I may go that way instead of the whipple route.

By the way what did you run with out the juice ? just wondering what 322 rwhp will get me.

Tom - As that Duramax loosens up the mileage will get a little better yet.
