Default If anyone can break it, I can

I have absolutely no idea how, but somehow I cracked one of my Pacesetters. I had been noticing a slight exhaust tick, but figured it was where my hacked up Y pipe mated up, so I got a new band clamp and finally climbed my fat *** under the truck. I noticed everything looked good at the collector to y pipe connection, so I spun the existing band clamp around, and tightened it up. Cranked the truck up, and noticed I still had a tick, so I climbed my fat *** back under the truck and tried finding my leak. There may be a tiny leak at the band clamp, but I covered that leak and noticed I had a hairline crack about 2 1/2" long on the inside of the collector.
Unfortunately Im too big to get in position to weld it, and really cant see it with the hood on. Maybe Ill run it up on the ramps and try again another day, or maybe just take it to a muffler shop?

Im by no means disappointed with Pacesetter. These headers served me well. I guess they have almost 5 HARD years on them. Considering the price, I think I got my moneys worth, and Im confident once I get the crack fixed they will continue to serve me well

I've seen headers split from a backfire or excessive heat.

What kinda "tick" were u getting? My TBSS exhaust ticks both while driving and when sitting afterwards. Never thought it might be a cracked header...

just about every car that i've ever seen has a ticking sound coming from the exhaust when it cools down. it's just the metal settling.
