Default idle adjustment?

I was wondering if my 2000 5.3 has a adjustable idle screw? I would like for it to idle a little higher. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but if you don't change the idle in the PCM the IAC valve will close off more and make it idle at the same rpm.

Maybe someone else will chime in and confirm that cause I'm not 100% sure about it.

there is a throttle blade stop adjustment screw on the TB, but, it is really just for fine tuning the TPS voltage. you can turn it all day long and the ECM will command the IAC to make it idle at the factory setting. the ONLY way you will get it to idle any higher is with EDIT. PERIOD. why do you want it to idle any faster anyway?

I have the asp crank pulley on it and just wanted a little more charging at idle. I really do not want to change to the smaller alt. pulley.

EDIT is your only option.

When I was messing with the TB screw, I was running my predator to fine tune my idle. I intially wanted to idle at 700rpms, so I adjusted the screw and I got it to idle at 750 rpms. Kept playing with it and ending up setting it at 572rpms. My truck always idled at 500rpms instead of 550 like it was supposed too. Anyway, I was able to adjust it to any rpm I wanted, with just the screw. I can hook up my predator anytime and watch my idle rpms jump from 560-585 all day. I have never drove and watched it, so I can't say for sure if it holds the new rpm while on the road in drive, but when it's in park in my driveway, I can change it to any idle I want. PERIOD...

Oh yeah, PERIOD.
i am not familiar with the predator, can it change idle? anyway, be careful adjusting the TB screw, if you open it too far, it will set a code. and if you are adjusting it while it is running, yes, it may work, at least untill you restart the truck. depending on your tune, the IAC may also be out of its step range, therefore, you may be able to adjust the idle with the TB screw a bit.

The predator can't adjust the rpms, just allows you to view actual rpms, which I was doing. It will hold after the truck is turned off and restarted. Just don't know if it works while in gear. It can be adjusted slightly, but you are right, the correct way is to do it in the ECM. I was just letting you know that the rpms and be adjusted without edit.

I apologize for the PERIOD thing, I quite smoking and it is making me one testie sum ofa bitch. Did not mean it.
