Default I smell exhaust fumes when I turn my heater on?

Wasn't quite sure where to post this.

As far as I can tell the headers have no exhaust leaks and the collectors are welded to the pipes.

If I let it run on circulation in the cab it is not bad or can hardly smell it, but when it is pulled in from the motor I can definitely smell it.

My cutouts are open but they are placed under the rear passenger seat.

Anybody experienced this issue or no whats going on? Also do the 2001 silverados have a cabin filter, if so mine has never been changed.

99-02 Should have a replaceable cabin Air filter under the passenger side glove box.

You need to pull off the lower plastic cover to get to the little window just below the glove box.

FWIW The open air source pulls air in from ducts at the base of the windshield between the hood and the glass.

I have a cowl hood with massive 1/2" holes throughout, could it be pulling fumes from the cowl hood vents/slots?

Do yall know if local auto part stores sell the cabin filter or online only? I will call and find out tomorrow with auto part stores.

I'm going to close the cutouts, winter is coming in texas and I wont be able to crawl under there for two weeks

I would except for I have 2 cutouts, the electrics would run me around $500, I'm a broke college kid till summers, and I'm scared of them going out/breaking.

I closed the cutouts this morning, still smell the fumes. My muffler is dumped in front of the rear axle.

I called Autozone and they s have the cabin filter for $15-16, so I'll try that next.

If the filter doesn't work any other ideas?

I hear ya. I was in college too so I know what it's like. Hell I'm still broke. Damn this site. I just have a single on mine and it has lasted a long time. Race ready updated their motor design and sent me an update for free and it's been doing great.
