i guess i should mention my truck is a 99 5.3l 4x4 with around 170000 miles. it has just a air intake and true dual exhaust with a tune from wheatley right now. i will also be putting some long tubes on it very soon also. When i put the cam in i will be completely taking apart the engine and cleaning and replacing any parts that need to be replaced.

At 170K miles I would definitely replace the lifters, get the LS7 lifters:
GM Performance Parts 12499225 - Lifter Kit, Gen III Engines, Set of 16 | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211
Valve springs:
GM Performance Parts 12499224 - Valve Spring Set, GM LS2, LS3, LS6, Set of 16 | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211
Push rods:
Manley Performance Parts 25735 - 7.400 Stock Length LS1 Manley Pushrods | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211
and then the LS2 HD timing set. Look in the classifieds.

Scoggin Dickey Parts Center CC54-ST1-11 - HT1 SDPC LSX Truck Cam 214/218 .559/.562 111 | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211
ls7 lifters
GM Performance Parts 12499225 - Lifter Kit, Gen III Engines, Set of 16 | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211
valve springs
GM Performance Parts 12499224 - Valve Spring Set, GM LS2, LS3, LS6, Set of 16 | SDParts - 1-800-456-0211
