Default I give up

I'm giving up on my 5.3L... It's been nothing but problems since the rebuild. If anyone's willing to tackle it, they're more than welcome too.

Wiseco -32cc forged pistons
Eagle stroker forged rods
eagle stroker crank
Rotating assembly has been balanced

Bored the stock 5.3L block, to an LS1 size, 3.905.

It runs right ok now. I can smell a lot of oil in the exhaust though. So it's getting into the cylinders somewhere. It also makes a shuffling sound right now.

All i need is a stock, running 6.0L to trade.

Oh yea, i forgot... ARP headstuds, cometic gaskets.

Put this in the classifieds, you'll get more offers on it. Also it just sounds like you're in need of some new rings and possible a hone. Sounds like a good combo otherwise.

One time, i had a car with the same problem, then i found the cause.

A couple of the stems on the valves where really worn down on the heads and the oil was from the valve and valve guides being so open...

U May Want To Pull All Your Plugs And Clean The Cyc. Run A Compression Test Then Put A Little Oil In The Cyc. And Run Another Compression Test.
Then Do A Bleed Down Test, see If You Have Any Leaking.try And Find What Cyc. It Is That Is Giving U Problems.then After Finding The Cyc.pull U,r Springs And Check Seals Like Wait4me Said.
R U Getting Blow By.

some good advice already given...

what breakin oil did you use? hope it wasnt synthetic. if it was synthetic the rings wont seat. need to use conventional oil.

its possible the finish in the cylinders is too rough. might need to rehone the block, new rings, etc.
or maybe the guy doing the machine work didnt know what the hell he was doing.

possible it could be a bad valve stem and/or guide, but i highly doubt it.

maybe a broken ring when the shortblock was assembled?

i'd take lilredevil's advice and do a compression test and leakdown test before you do anything drastic. whatever is wrong can be fixed, just a matter if you're willing to work a little bit to do it. CHIP

Thanks guys. really appreciate the help and boost of confidence.

I'm not getting any blowby rite now.

Used regular oil for break in. Didn't wash out the rings hopefully.

I'll get around to the compression test and leak down test.

So much just to get it running correctly again....
