Default I decided to go with pacesetters, but should I do the y pipe?

I hear some people suggest that the pacesetter 3" Y pipe is kinda big for a 5.3, i dunno. right now I have a 2000 silverado 1500 5.3L with a 40 series flowmaster cat back with one 3inch inlet and dual 2.5inch outlets going to the rear. Im going to put the pacesetter long tube headers on it but want to know what I would be better off with? I will probably keep the cats unless I make it to where I can swap them back in every 2 years for smog purposes.

by the time I buy and install the headers, I will be installing my cam as well and get it all tuned at once, so would a 3" y pipe or a stock size be better with the below mods?

compcams low lift XR265HR 212/218 0.522 x 0.529

14b Sf rear axle with 4.56 gears

tune: currently a wait4me tune, but will probably go with blackbear performance

transgo hd2 shift kit with aluminum servos

4"lift with 315/75/R16 tires

and one last question, wheres the best deals on pacesetter LT's?
thanks guys.

I know who offers them, im just wondering is the 3" y pipe would even be needed with a 5.3? I hear alot of people saying its too big.

Since you have a mild 5.3, and you plan on keeping the cats, I'd probably just get a y-pipe custom fabbed or have your current y-pipe altered if possible. A lot of guys have used the PaceSetter 3" ORY on stockish 5.3's and gotten away with it, but IMO dual 3" pipe will slow down exhaust velocity and probably have a negative affect on your low end.

I believe that both OBX and Dynatech are 2.5, as well as StainlessWorks which I have myself
