The tow/haul button a momentary switch? The button activates and then when pushed again de-activates the tow-haul mode, so why would it be different than any other push-button switch.

It is a momentary switch. Which means the circuit is closed only when you push the switch. You would have to rig something up there electronically. The PCM is what makes it stay on or off.

Found the wiring diagram. You guys are right on how it works as a momentary switch. One wire is a ground and the other goes to the BCM. By pushing the button the signal being sent to the BCM toggles to zero momentarily . When the BCM sees this it tells the VCM(Vehicle control module) to switch modes. It looks like it basically just switches a different wire to ground on the computer harness. Seems like it would be much simpler with an on/off switch and two different wires being grounded but, hey this is GM we're talking about and they have their reasons.

This info came from the Helms service manual. If you don't have them they are nice.

I've got a haynes manual. I'm trying to find the right diagram now. What was it grouped under? Warning lamps? Courtesy lamps? I cant find it!

It was in the automatic transmission section. Page 7-272 of the Helms manual.

I don't know if a Haynes manual would have it or not. Is that the single book manual? The Helms are like 5 big a$$ books.

5 books! DAMN!

Yeah, this is a single book

Maybe tapping into the tow/haul lamp hot wire would work.

They cover EVERYTHING!! They even tell you where the grounds are actually grounded in/on/around the vehicle for different things.

For nitrous? The truck would have to be put in tow/haul mode still and that changes trans settings unless they've been changed with LS1edit under the performance settings.

I like the tow/haul *** button idea hehe! I know when and if I get a turbo unit, I'll use a GReddy Profec E-01 boost controller. I had a E-01 in my last turbo car and it was a pretty badass. It's bit larger than Parish's Blitz bc though.

Yeah, spraying nitrous and changing the trans settings(if they weren't edited) would probably =

With the settings changed to the same as the normal settings you could probably use the ground wire for that light to ground a relay that fed power to your nitrous stuff.

The tow/haul a$$ button.
