WTF is up with the "snitch" ****? You know something I don't?
And why was the motor thread locked out? Oppression at its best? LOL
BTW ny weenie fans aren't gonna work. I talked to Flex a lite today and gave him the model number. He said a MINIMUM of 12" dual fans are required, especially down here. He says it will heat soak and never cool down. Guess I gotta scam me some LT1 fans from somewhere. Still gonna get the HPP3 first though. Talk at you later

Hyde, you asked how a tranny can blow a motor in that locked thread. I tried to explain it to you, but you didn't seem to want to learn at the time.
The 4L60E 4-speed automatic is really a piece of **** at higher power levels. This is the exact same tranny used in our LS1 Camaros/Firebirds and is also in the 1/2-ton trucks we own. Those trannys usually take a dump and start slipping around 400 rwhp in the F-bodies. Usually the 2-3 shift leaves town first. Now, imagine that same tranny in your truck, making your current power level. Its got a LOT more load on it to carry that truck, so it only makes sense that it should not last as long as in an F-body with the same power.
Once that tranny slips during a shift, it will not shift. It will continue upwards in rpm until the rev-limiter steps in. When that happens, our GM computers cut the fuel supply off. So, here you are spraying, thinking everything is working perfectly, when your 4L60E decides to take a dump (they give no warning) and KABOOOOOM!
Its happened to many F-body owners on nitrous already. Why not put a simple $75 window switch on your truck that will cut the nitrous off past a certain rpm, before the rev limiter? Its just simple, cheap insurance.
BTW, 98Cobras's car does make 500 rwhp, its just a heavy tank convertible and he doesn't race on slicks. My Formula makes 525 rwhp all-motor and is a bit lighter, hence my higher trap speeds.

It's pretty laid back in this section if you ask me. This is the performance section and needs to stay topic related. Personal messages are cool once in a while, but starting a thread like (which no-one has yet) "what are you doing tonight" needs to be in the Lounge section or on a private message. Like I said, once in a while is cool. I'm not trying to be an *** here, so please don't take it that way.
Greg
Now for the topic.... Did the guys at Flex-a-lite tell you that in order to get you to buy a set of their fans? That's a good price that Hyde can get. They are loud, but I think they are great.

Well , I still don`t believe Hyde ever met Tony..Has to be another Tony, from the description I saw.Sounds more like Anthony to me..haha..
Hyde: Nineball is absolutley right. One slip of the tranny and its over.. I blew four 4l60 e tranny`s and they were expensive rebuilt PMAC trannies. The tranny caused me to burn several valves first, blow a motor and blow a rear end from the tranny breaking. The slipping happens very fast and usually on the 2-3 shift but not always. One run may be fine and the next run with a little more heat and KABOOOOOOOOOOM!! I have videos and pictures that would make you put that window switch on in a heartbeat..

Yeah, dyno-racing is pretty lame Brooke LOL!
The 99RedHawk invented the "KABOOOM" phrase on the net unfortunately. . That was a sweet car.

My buddies 460LE in his car did the exact samething. Thank god the first time it did it he wasnt spraying. A stock tranny will not last to long, well if you own a Supra it seems to take 900rwhp lol... 5-Speeds are the biggest culprits for just randomly gernading themselves (RIP 4 T-45s..) Stock Autos, whether it be 460LE, AODE, 4RW30 (or whatever it is lol) seem to give up at around the same HP rating ~400. That window switch will save your motor so you can keep stepping up the shot and hopefully set your goal. Which the day you decide to go dyno, post a message up here Ill come to the dyno and watch.
Tony, Dyno racing is the best. How about this find a shop with 2 Dynos, we strap our cars in together and first one to finish the dyno wins??

I found out yesterday that an extended warranty is now available for the truck. About 10,000 miles ago, I passed 36k, and came to find out AFTER, that the extended warranty was not a possibility, and that it had to be extended before 36k. As you can imagine, I was upset. However, I am now able to extend it to 100,000, or the next 4 years. 100k is definitely coming first, naturally. Anyway, the warranty is the basic warranty we all get, its no different, and as we all know, its nationwide.
The question is:
If I am correct, the full tranny is under warranty. That thing goes, I can have it replaced at the dealership correct? I just want to be really sure before I put this money down. I think a couple guys here have had their tranny's replaced a couple times already.

If you are talking about a non GM aftermarket warranty, here is how they work. The company will get damage estimates on replace (new and used) and repair. They will most likely find a used tranny with equal or less miles and pay for that. Then it is in your hands to say yes or no. You pay the differance on a used to new, but they don't like when you do that, but it is your choice to do. That is wht I did when I replaced the motor.
