Alrighty. I suppose I took some bad advice then. What length do I need?

The front axle from a Yukon Denali or Escalade would obviously be the easiest to locate.
I never looked into it, but I was going to see if I could source just the housing and axle. I wonder how much they cost frm GM.

You can't know the length of the push rods needed until you measure. Once you have the heads and cam in the motor, use a pushrod length checker to find what size you need. Every engine is different. You will be very disappointed if you put the wrong size in.

I gotta bump this up. I was talking with a coworker of mine explaining my build. Turbo, 4L80E, Trutrac, AWD etc.

Well, he swears I'm going to blow everything up. The transmission won't hold, the drivelines will break, it's only a 10 bolt so that's going to explode, and let's not mention the front end, no way that's going to take it! It's the tiniest front end ever!!

Basically, I got laughed at.

What do you guys think? Think I'll break everything?

The 4L80E with a Transgo HD-2 shift kit would laugh at you, asking for more power.

The 10 bolt at that power will be fine, the factory G80 will let go sooner or later. Upgrade to a Tru Trac and you're fine.

I'm not too knowledgeable on front diff stuff as I've never owned a 4x4, but I see many members here clicking off 10 second, some even in the 9 second range launching in four wheel drive and the stuff seems to hold up.

Do it, prove him wrong.

My stock front end seems to be doing fine on 4wd launches with drag radials...

I'm guessing you would top out mid to high 11s

HAHA! This made me laugh out loud!

Actually, he's sort of a jeep guy.

All I'm planning on doing to the 4L80E is the hd2 shift kit. I was actually wondering if there's something else I should do before I put it in. I've also got a 40K trans-cooler.

I forgot to mention that I'll be running a Yank SC3000 stall as well.

My factory rearend is open. I bought the trutrac already and all I need to order are ring gear bolts. I've ready got bearings and shims. I shouldn't need to buy heavy duty axles or anything should I?

Basically I'm going to put it all together and see what happens. I don't think I'll break anything and if I do, I'll repair it as needed.
