Default How much more for 12s?

Alright, my truck is in sig.

I think that I've set my goal for breaking into the 12s. I'ld just be happy with a 12.99.

I can't go much further with bolt ons, and I already have a cam.

I'm looking at most likely getting some nitrous on a 75-100 shot (after a couple more checks), or MAYBE a TCI Streetfighter.

So, after I did one of those mods (assuming a good custom tune, etc) what else would it take to get into the 12s?

I think 150 shot and a converter would get yo0u in the 12 if you can hook up.

What times are you running now? I would suggest a converter, Eaton, and some DR's.

If you don't have traction, the N2O will give you a bump in MPH, but might not help your ET's quite enough to get into the 12s without some DR's and a posi.

Put the bottle on it and a set of slicks, and you will get into the 12's no problem.

Bottles are for babies. You have to add muscle. Bigger cam, 3000-3200 stall, head work, tuning, e-fans, underdrive pulley, gears.... You have a good bit of mods to go. Ditch the bed cover. IMO nos is like cheating and it isn't always there. Once you run out, your gonna get waxed.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

What kind of cam, headers, etc? Let's get a full list of performance mods. If we know how much time we need to knock off, then we can know what needs to be done.

...its all about putting more air through the motor. Nitrous, cam, heads, its all the same.

If I could pay 4000 dollars for a blower, I would.

But hey, I can get the same HP on a good kit of spray for about $600, and then I don't have to worry about if I can hook enough to move from a light on a rainy day (this is my daily driver.... well 90% so) That whole "nitrous is cheating" thing reminds me of a little kid saying that the lateral is cheating in backyard football. Power is power. Whether you get it from a N/A 5.3L or a twin turboed LS6! That HP is read all the same on the dyno.

But anyway, off that arguement.

My mods are what's in sig... but in case you're not set to veiw it:
It's a 99 5.3L regular cab sportside
Mods are:
2/4 drop (dunno if that could actually help aero effeciency or not, probobly not worht anything)
01 LS6 cam (and no, I'm not putting a bigger and/or different cam in)
K&N FIPK
Shorty headers
No catalytic converters
dynomax ultraflow dumped before axle
corvette servo
custom hot tune w/ tranny tweaks (ordering in about 4 days)

That's it for performance

I'm figuring I'll have to get a lsd before I could hit 12s. But hey, just wondering what all else it would take.

So.... what was the verdict?
current mods + 100 shot + Limited Slip + Drag Radials = 12s? I'ld hope for mid 12s with that, but hey... I'm no expert

It's going to take a good bit to get there I think. Do you know what you're running now?
