No, you don't remove the torsion bars, or the torsion bar crossmember. You will need to remove the tranny support crossmember.

Well try rotating it 180* where it bolts to the back. If that don't help...

remember these trucks weren't intended to go 115+mph soooo... you may have to shell out $$$ for a quality aluminum piece that can take you to 200mph or so. hahahah.

I had a tough weekend installing my first one. I tried to make due with a floor jack instead of a tranny jack - big mistake. It took a long time. It would have been much better with a lift and a trans jack. After that time, I paid $250 to have the one installed in my current truck. To me, that was money well spent.

My thoughts exactly, if you scroll up in this thread some... one person spent 2.5 days to install one!

I have better things to do with my time... I could go make enough money to more than offset the $250 for the install or just relax around the house.

If you don't have the tools, I don't recommend installing one.

You have to experience it at least once. That was my thought process anyway.

Once is all I want without a lift. I try and do all my work, because I enjoy the work and the results. But that tranny swap sucked for me.

I've got my eye on a cheap lift.

I am getting ready to do mine this week, and it will be in the drive way. I know it isn't going to be fun. I have done it before in cars, and like ben said gotta go for it once.

I didn't think we had to line up these driveshafts any special way when reinstalling....

Aren't the driveshafts balanced while they're off the truck? (if at all??)
