im a little confused about exactly everything i will be getting. so...if i was to buy one of the ls stroker motors from erl...i think its a block and the rotating assembly, i know what all i need obviously, but like...if you guys have time will you make a few list of EVERYTHING i will need basicly in front of the transmission after i buy this. basicly so that wasy if im not thinking of something....you guys will catch it...i mean i will catch it once i start building obciously...just more tio think about and ill be more prepared...its minor..and i can do it myself, but just for peice of mind if you guys have the time make some remoendations of what to do next. especially head recomendations

you can easily have 12-15k into that motor. its going to be rather hard to list everything you possibly need

Call an engine builder if youre that lost. There are a million ways to get the job done and then factor in the budget.

im not really "that lost" i know how to build a motor and everything that goes into into it, just never build a stroker....just...kinda looking for some help guys.

A 6.2 block bored .010 to 4.07 with a 4.1" stroke crank is a 426.5

The LS7 and LSX block at a 4.125" bore and 4" stroke is a 427.4


(Bore/.5)^2 * 3.14 * 8 * stroke will get you the size.

The extra 10-20 cubic inches get expensive and I would not be overly fond of the extra strokeof going more than 4" pushing the wrist pin up in the piston. A well built 408 Iron (iron 6.0 block over 30 with a 4" crank) would be plenty with the right parts and cost less than the bigger motors.

theres 408s that produce 400rwhp and soem that produce 600 rwhp. you can have a LS1 produce 500 rwhp and you can have a ls1 produce 300.

you can have a 427 produce 400 and have one produce 600. it comes down to how much money you spend. The key is intake, heads, cam, throttle body, header size, exhaust size along with compression. You want big power got to lay down the money on good parts. if you got with budget parts as in heads and cam youll get budget results.

expect 10-12k for a stout 408, if you want under 500 you might as well stay 6litre and dump 5-6k into it

hp isnt cheap

yeah. i dont want to be cheap, and dont plan on it. im just trying to understand what to do, and what not to do. for example, my roomate bought a set of as cast heads from trick flow, sent them off to TEA, for 200 bucks and had them ported out to trickflows 235 or 245s...he save almost a thoussand dollars, and had the EXACT set of heads. i dont know every thing there is to know about strokers, but if someone on here dose know and can maybe throw in some suggestions, that would be great. thats why i get on this site every night. mostly to read and learn. thats why i ask the questions, to learn. from what i hear there are lots of ways of doing a quality stroker, i just want to do it right. but i also dont want to drop 13k on a motor...when i know there are guys out there building quality 417 strokers for 4 or 5k.
