Default How about the LPE cam?

I am looking to find a good cam for my truck. It is a LM-7 with 37,000 miles on it. I am interested in buying a Lingenfelter Performance cam, but I want to make sure that all the power added from the cam isn't in the upper range. I want a strong mid and upper with the addition of a little lower end torque. The cam specs at 205*/212* .540/.540 lift with a 116.5* lobe seperation. Would this cam be a good cam for my truck. I would consider extending the rpm's to 6300rpm but that is about it.

I would also change other things including a new timing chain, manley pushrods, Ls6 valve springs, and valve seals.

From what I hear this is the perfect type of truck cam - at least everything but the LSA. Some very experienced people I've been talking to say that even the Comp 212/218 cams are too much for a truck - that the 205/211 or 206/212 is much more properly aligned with our weight and RPM range. With ~.520 lift being a little small and ~560 being a little too much, this makes .540 just about perfect. I'm sure 116.5 would be okay, but I've been told that the LSA is better closer to 115.

Let us know what you do. I am trying to find someone to grind me a 206/212, 545/540, 115+4, and if I do, I'll report back who I've found that will do that.

Ive got a friend that drag races with a 1300 hp vette and he has his cams custom made to his specs in Chicago Illinois, i will talk to him and get the number to the place and see if they will grind a ls-1 style cam.

i've got the LPE 218/229 113LSA cam. Great cam that pulls hard to 6500rpms. Makes a big jump in power, so i'm told, over stock.

The cam your looking at should be nice for a daily driver.

Lower duration, higher lift....

I never noticed that LPE cam. It looks like a beefed up version of a stock cam. It should idle very close to stock.

You "might" need to run better springs than LS6's. I'm not certain on that.
